The Most Hilarious Complaints We've Received About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader you choose and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be changed in order to upgrade an item.
It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at a lower level. The average item level can be found in the character sheet.
When deciding to purchase or sell gear, players can compare the level of an item. It's a measure of the damage and its quality. The item level can also be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.
The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its value. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are several theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by an equation that determines the worth of an item's stats really are. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values, and also that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual item level.
However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, since the level of the region the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have higher ilvl.
Item Stats
The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon, and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.
Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.
Presently, all affixes are able to be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other rerolling options.
Players can choose to upgrade an item to a specific stat, or reroll affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the range, unless it's an item that is unique or an item that is a God roll from a boss of a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of the properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade item s. It gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in early game runs than in later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned by using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any ability that deals damage by 5%. These items are available at the store or constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade fails.
The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..
The performance of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
